Adult Beginners Courses
Our 5 week Adult Beginners’ classes run throughout the year on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings from 8:00 – 9:00pm. Our next course starts on September 24th 2024 – you can sign up here or you can contact Duncan at ashfordcoaching@taketennislessons.co.uk to register your interest.
COURSE CONTENT
The classes cover basic tennis technique and is aimed at those who have never played before or those who have not picked up a racket for a long time! The emphasis is on fun and there is no pressure to perform to any set standard. Stronger players can progress into more advanced sessions where they can mix in with players of a similar ability. You can dip in and out of the sessions if you are unable to attend some weeks.
There is a general theme for each week, although the exact structure will depend upon people’s levels. As a guide areas that are covered include:
- Forehands and backhands
- Serving
- Volleys and smashes
- Linking shots and aiming
- Matchplay and basic tactics
The general aim of the classes is to introduce people to basics of technique, implementing these techniques into first rallies and then points. After a number of sessions the aim is that most people will be able to play matches with confidence.
View some basics on how to play the game at the LTA website.
