Wheelchair Competition Success
Club member Noel McShane enjoyed a win at a recent wheelchair tennis event which was part of the Surrey County Championship.
He played in the Open Division with the two other men in his first singles tournament in 2 years. It was run on a round robin basis, best of 3 short sets to 4 with a champions tie break if one set all.
The win was particularly notable as one of the players Noel beat, Thomas Dodds, plays in a number of tournaments, including the British Open.
The event took place at Sutton Tennis Centre on Sunday 1st September.
To increase the numbers in the disability events (Blind/ Partially sighted also included) they opened up the event to competitors from Middlesex too. Hence trophy shows Surrey & Middlesex, which is appropriate in Noel’s case with the location of the tennis club being Ashford (Middx) in Surrey!
