2018 Tournament Finals Weekend #2

The second of the club’s tournament finals took place last weekend and the results are below.

Saturday’s Finals:

Veterans Men’s Singles – Sam Doyle beat Paul Seaney 6-1, 6-1.

Open Mixed Doubles – Frankie Bedi & Nic Martin beat Penny Allen & Kane Bolton 6-4, 6-2

Veterans Ladies’ Doubles – Frankie Bedi & Katarina Bunce beat Lauraine Levett & Pauline Uwins 6-0, 6-0

Sunday’s Finals:

Open Men’s Doubles Plate – Jonathan Daws & Gary Clements beat Jeff Howe & Ian McIlrath 6-3, 6-3

Open Men’s Singles Plate – Tom Murrell beat Colin Stuart 6-0, 3-6, 6-4
This was the most tense finals of the weekend – it could have gone either way in the third set after a comeback by Colin when 5-1 down in the third. Tom eventually held out to win.

The Veterans Mixed Doubles final was not played due to both sets of semi-finalists on the lower half of the draw not being available. The trophy will therefore be awarded to the other finalists Bunny Smith & Jim Kitchen.
