Wheelchair Tennis Tournament 2017

The inaugural ‘One-Up, One-Down’ wheelchair tennis tournament took place at the weekend.

It was a round robin event with all 5 teams fielding an able bodied player to partner the wheelchair player.

Despite the cool and murky conditions there were some sparkling rallies – everyone adapting well to the unfamiliar format.

The rounds finished with 3 teams tied on 15 points and Steve’s team went into a final against Tim’s team. Steve’s team of himself, Keith Lester and Gary Clement were the eventual winners of the tournament.

It was a great afternoon’s tennis, enjoyed by everyone – players and spectator alike.

The raffle was very successful and we raised £50 towards The Dan Maskell Tennis Trust after taking out the food costs and the trophy expenses.

Finally, a huge well done to Noel for organising the event and Ann Pritchard for putting on such a splendid meal. Thanks also to Paul, Lauraine, Pauline and Kevin and to all who supported the event.
