World Cup Tournament 2024

The World Cup tennis tournament, our annual team event, took place at the weekend in warm bright conditions. While Alcaraz was cruising to victory at Wimbledon, our four teams of six battled it out over four rounds of competitive doubles tennis.

The Rest of the World team were ahead right up to the final round when Europe pipped them at the post with a maximum 18 points from their three matches.

Keith Lester the main organiser of the event awarded prizes for all competitors but the coveted World Cup itself was presented to the winning European team captained by Katarina. The rest of the team were Corni, Hannah, Steven, Veronique and Sandra.

After the presentation tea and cakes were enjoyed by all – thanks to Sally-Ann and Pauline for providing some delicious home made fayre.

Proceeds from the event raised £90 for our charity of the year the Princess Alice Hospice.
